This is a very quick and easy recipe. Who knew it was so simple to make your own homemade sweetened condensed milk? I will never buy shop brought again. The beauty of this recipe is its simplicity. You have no chance of burning it like other methods while simmering milk down. Check out my non-cooked method!
Updated Recipe!
I have just updated the recipe. After receiving so many questions I have revised the original recipe from the video. It now has less sugar and less milk powder. It is still just as nice if not even better!
I wanted to make condensed milk dressing the other night to go with our salad. I had none left in the pantry, my first thought was dang it! I had planned on making this so long ago, but I just never got around to it. So, I did research and found the best method and the quickest one with the best results.
What is a kiwi summer without condensed milk dressing for cooled boiled potatoes and salad?
So, I set about making it and was pleasantly surprised it was a great success!
The BEST Method
If you have a high-powered blender or food processor it will give you the best results. I tried using both my Thermomix and I used my stand mixer.
Both methods work well but the stand mixer has a slightly grainy feel on the tongue. However, it makes no difference to the finished product. I have since used it for making salted caramel ice cream and it is divine!
Another method I could find was to simmer milk down with sugar. I didn’t want to try that way as I could see the potential for burning the mix.
