The Best Scone Recipe for DIY Pantry Mix

Try this scone mix to have in your pantry. It is quick and easy to throw together a batch of delicious scones. I love the convenience of having this already mixed and ready to go. Great for last minute guests, just add the wet ingredients and throw them in the oven.

Ingredients

Dry

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1/4 cup Milk Powder + 1 Tbsp Extra
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 6 tsp Baking Powder

Wet

  • 1 1/4 cups Water
  • 75 g Butter Grated

Instructions

  • Combine dry ingredients together. Store in an airtight container or jar. 
  • Tip dry ingredients into a bowl, add the grated butter and stir. 
    Add water and use a knife to combine (Don't over-mix). Add milk if the mixture is too dry. 
    On a floured, clean bench flatten the scone mixture to roughly 2cm thick. Cut into pieces or use a glass to make it into rounds. Brush the top of the scones with milk and place them on a lined tray. Bake at 200°c for 12 minutes or until lightly golden. 

Notes

Cheese and onion Scone - Add 1 diced onion, 1 cup grated cheese, 3 Tbsp chopped parsley. 
Date Scone - Add 1 cup of chopped dates and 1/4 cup of sugar.
Ham and Cheese Scone - 1/4 cup diced ham, 1 cup grated cheese, 3 Tbsp chopped parsley.
