These beans are fabulous to have as a side or as part of breakfast. We call it Brinner (breakfast for dinner). They are very easy to whip up and keep in the fridge for several days.

We make a fresh batch for Brinner and the other batch is for the pressure caner. We absolutely love these beans; they are so handy to have and husband really enjoys them as well.
They are so much cheaper to make yourself. It is even better if you can use your own home-canned beans instead of buying tinned beans.

You can add any other flavorings you wish to this recipe. This just serves as a great base. Add bacon, onions and veggies to it to bulk it out if you wish.

Ingredients
- 2 tinned beans I used butter beans and cannellini
- 3-4 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp garlic crushed
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 2-4 tbsp corn flour
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Drain and wash the tinned beans, then place into a medium sized pot.
- Cover the beans with water, until they are just covered.
- Add the remaining ingredients except the corn flour.
- Heat on a medium heat until warmed through and starting to simmer.
- Make a corn flour slurry by combining the corn flour and some water together to form a paste.
- Add the slurry to the beans and continue to stir until the desired consistency is achieved. You may need to add more corn flour slurry if the sauce is too thin.
- Store in an airtight container. It will last in the refrigerator for a couple of days.
