Loads of Biscuits Recipe – Great for Freezing
A simple and quick recipe that is versatile. Change the basic dough mix to combine any flavor profile you wish. A great freezer cookie!
These fabulous Biscuits
These fabulous biscuits came from goodness knows where. All I know is I wrote them up in my recipe book and called them loads of biscuits. Knowing me I adapted them from a recipe and made them bulk style and family friendly.
I remember making these on a weekly basis when my children were growing up. I loved that they were so versatile and so easy to make. They also had very limited ingredients and I usually had everything in my pantry.
Once you make the basic dough. The skies are the limit as to how and what type of add ones you wish to make with them.
Here is a list of just a few ideas for you. In the video we used 100’s and 1,000’s (sprinkles) and plain chocolate buttons.
- Cornflakes and 1 TBsp of cocoa powder
- Cocoa Powder and choc chips
- Flavored Essences
- Nuts
- Dried fruit
- Freeze Dried Powder
- Sprinkles
- Chucks of chocolate bars
Ingredients
- 450 g soft butter
- 450 g sugar
- 397 g tin of sweetened condensed milk or make up my recipe linked in the post
- 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 5 cups of plain flour
- 2 Tbsp baking powder
- see above for added ingredient ideas
Method
- place the first four ingredients into a bowl and beat until well combined and fluffy
- add the remaining ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon you can use you clean hands if you like
- if the mix is too wet, add some more flour a little at a time until you have a dough that can mold in your hands into a ball without being too sticky
- roll the dough into whatever-sized biscuit you want. The smaller the biscuit the more you get.The biscuits will get slightly bigger after baking
- divide the dough to make up other flavors or
- follow the video to see how I added mine
- Bake @190℃ for 10 minutes or until just starting to be golden.
- Once they are cold, pop them onto a tray and freeze them separately for a couple of hours. Then, bag them up in freezer-safe bags, and they will be free-flowed and easy to grab one at a time.
