No-Bake Chocolate Fudge Slice
The No-Bake Chocolate Fudge Slice That Never Lasts Long
There’s something undeniably nostalgic about a good chocolate slice. It lives in childhood memories and lunchbox dreams. It also resides in well-worn handwritten recipes passed from one kitchen to another. And when it’s a no-bake chocolate fudge slice made with crushed biscuits, you know it will be sweet. It will be simple and irresistibly moreish.
This is one of those recipes that’s almost too easy to be believed. No oven, no complicated steps, and definitely no fancy ingredients. Just a few pantry staples, a bit of stirring, and a little time in the fridge. And just like that, you’ve got a tray of something rich, chocolatey, and ready to win hearts.
What I love most is how flexible it is. You can dress it up or down depending on what you have on hand. Swap in gluten-free biscuits to make it coeliac-friendly. Stir through some chopped nuts, dried fruit, or even mini marshmallows if you’re feeling adventurous. Or keep it classic — just rich fudge and biscuit chunks in every bite.
It’s also a perfect “get-the-kids-involved” kind of treat. Crushing biscuits is oddly satisfying. It’s a great way to get out some energy. There’s always someone willing to lick the spoon. Plus, with no baking involved, it’s a low-stress way to spend time in the kitchen together.
I usually make this when we need something quick for a picnic. It’s perfect for a sweet plate at a get-together or just because it’s Thursday and we deserve it. It keeps well in the fridge. I’ll be honest — it rarely lasts more than a couple of days in our house. One slice leads to another, and before you know it… gone.
If you’re looking for a quick and comforting chocolate treat, this no-bake fudge slice is perfect. It brings maximum reward with minimum effort and might just be your new favourite. It’s simple, satisfying, and a little bit magic.

Classic No-Bake Chocolate Fudge Slice

Ingredients
Slice:
- 500 g plain sweet biscuits superwine or similar, crushed
- 250 g butter melted
- ½ cup white sugar
- 4 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp vanilla essence
Chocolate Icing:
- 75 g butter softened
- 1½ cups icing sugar
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 Tbsp milk
Optional:
- desiccated coconut to sprinkle on top
Instructions
- Crush the biscuits in a double-lined zip-lock bag using a rolling pin until you have a mix of fine crumbs and small chunks.
- In a saucepan, add the butter, cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla. Heat over medium, stirring constantly until the butter is melted and the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the crushed biscuits until well combined.
- Line a square slice tin with baking paper. Press the mixture firmly into the tin and smooth the top.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes until firm.
- For the icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl. Add the softened butter and milk, then beat until light and fluffy.
- Spread the icing evenly over the chilled slice and sprinkle with desiccated coconut if using.
- Return to the fridge until set, then slice and serve.
Notes
Stacey's Kitchen Tips:
- Don’t over-crush the biscuits — a few chunky bits give the slice better texture.
- If the icing feels too thick, add a tiny splash more milk until spreadable.
- Press the slice firmly into the tin so it holds together when cut.
- This slice cuts best once fully chilled.
Notes & Substitutions:
- Swap plain biscuits for digestives biscuits.
- Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or coconut into the base for extra texture.
- Use dark cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavour.
- Skip the coconut topping if it’s not your thing — it’s just as good without it.
