Ham & Swiss Cheese Sliders

If you’re looking for an easy meal that always seems to disappear quickly, these Ham & Swiss Cheese Sliders are hard to beat. They’re warm, cheesy, buttery, and packed with flavour, making them perfect for busy weeknights, casual entertaining, game days, or feeding a hungry crowd.

One of the things I love most about this recipe is how simple it is to put together. Using a slab of soft bread rolls means there’s very little prep involved, and everything bakes together in one dish until golden and delicious.

The combination of ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and the buttery poppy seed topping create a slider that’s comforting, satisfying, and full of flavour. As the sliders bake, the cheese becomes perfectly melted while the buttery topping soaks into the rolls, making every bite irresistible.

These sliders are best served warm from the oven while the cheese is still gooey, and the tops are lightly golden. They’re the sort of recipe that’s just as welcome on a family dinner table as it is on a platter for sharing with friends.

Stacey’s Kitchen Tips

  • Baking the ham and cheese before adding the top buns helps the cheese melt evenly.
  • Covering the sliders with foil prevents the tops from browning too quickly.
  • Swiss cheese can be replaced with your favourite melting cheese.
  • These are best served warm while the cheese is still soft and gooey.

Variations & Substitutions

  • Use ham off the bone instead of sliced ham.
  • Replace Swiss cheese with cheddar, mozzarella, or Colby.
  • Add sliced pickles for extra flavour.
  • Use Dijon mustard for a stronger mustard flavour.

Storage, Freezer & Make-Ahead Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
  • Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.
